How did the clinic get started?

This is a true grassroots community effort. The Lord has placed a burden – for the uninsured of our county – on the hearts and minds of many individual leaders in our community. At our first meeting it was apparent that we were all finding ways to positively impact the problem. However, it was also apparent that we could do so much more if we worked together as a community. How can I help?

The proposed clinic would operate with minimal staff positions and rely entirely on volunteer healthcare personnel to assist in medical treatment. Grants and gifts – including in-kind gifts – from community partners (area churches, businesses, local government, and individuals) will assist in funding of the proposed clinic.  You can help by volunteering your time and talents. Whether you have a background in healthcare, or not, we need you. Please contact Chris Monceret if you would like more information about volunteering with CHHC: Chris.Monceret@adph.state.al.us .

Can groups volunteer?

Yes. This is a wonderful group building (church group, civic club, corporate outreach, etc.) to opportunity. Where else can you participate in a medical mission trip and still be back in time to sleep in your own bed. If you would like to learn more about group volunteer opportunities please contact Chris: Chris.Monceret@adph.state.al.us.

What is your mission statement?

To serve with compassion by providing health and wellness care to the uninsured of Shelby County. Read more.

What does CHHC hope to accomplish?

At any given moment, any one of us could find ourselves without health insurance. Oftentimes, this happens as a result of sudden job loss or other circumstances beyond our control. Our hope is that we can help our neighbors through the hard seasons of life by providing routine, non-emergency medical services at no charge. CHHC is more than a medical home, it’s a place where neighbors can come and bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2).

Why did you choose the VIM Model?

We chose to pattern our clinic after the VIM model because of it’s “Culture of Caring” philosophy. The VIM model is rooted in an ethical standard that says “how” people are treated during a visit to the clinic is as important as the medical care they receive. It finds its basis in the 2nd Commandment to “Love your neighbor as yourself,” and the “Golden Rule.” Read More.

How is CHHC supported?

In short, through the generosity of folks like you. Read more.

How do you keep the clinic running so smoothly?

Chris Monceret, our Executive Director, keeps our all-volunteer-team in sync. On top of that, we have incredible volunteers that are just fun to be around. We LOVE what we do and it shows. Click here for a more detailed explanation of our staffing arrangement.

Where is the clinic located?

At this time, we don’t have a building of our own. The clinic is currently located within the Shelby County Health Department (after hours) at 1000 County Services Drive, Pelham, AL 35124. And we couldn’t be happier with the arrangement. True to our mission, it allows us to offer quality care while keeping our overhead VERY low. Read more.

How can I donate to the clinic?

That’s easy. To make a tax deductible donation directly to the clinic, please send checks to:
The Community of Hope Health Clinic – P.O. Box 846Pelham, AL 35124. We will follow up with a receipt that you can use to receive a deduction during the current tax year.

At this time, we are not set up to receive donations by credit card, but Asbury United Methodist Church and the Baptist Health Foundation have agreed to help us out if needed. If you do decide to donate through either of these partners, please remember to designate the gift accordingly (i.e. Please note this donation is for CHHC.) Thank you!
